Hi, I’m Kristian
Tester but my friends call me Kris. I am a
sophomore point guard at El Dorado High School, a Class AAAAA
school in South Arkansas. Thank you for visiting
my web site. Now, let me let me tell you a little
about myself. First, let’s get
the nickname out of the way. I guess my
basketball nickname is “The White Rose.”
I did not choose this nickname; a sports writer
gave it to me. Here is how he explained it to me:
The nickname is based on a short story
written by Joe Renfrow. The story is entitled,
“The White Rose” and is basically about
a knight who took a vow to serve the people. The
knight, after many years of service, came upon a
woman who was ill. The only way to save the woman
was for the knight to find the elusive White Rose.
The knight eventually found The White Rose and
the woman was saved.
Basically, the knight is my coach Brad
Slatton. The woman is the El Dorado girls
basketball program, which was in pretty bad shape
when my step dad (Slatton) took over and I am The
White Rose. To be honest, I don’t know if I
can live up to the story but I do like the
nickname. It’s catchy. By the way, if you
want to read the story, click
here.
I started playing basketball at five-years-old
and have been a basketball player ever since. Of
all the sports, I like basketball because it’s
a faster pace. You have to make quick decisions.
I like being the point guard because there is a
lot of responsibility in that position.
As you might have guessed by my uniform
number (23), Michael Jordan is one of my sports
heroes. My other sports hero is Christy Smith.
She was the point guard who led Arkansas to the
Final Four a couple of years ago. She also played
in the WNBA for Charlotte. I like Christy because
of the way she played and also because of the
example she set off the court. She’s a nice
person, who got her degree. She’s my role
model because of what she did both on and off the
court.
I would love to follow her example and
follow the bouncing basketball as far I can. When
my basketball stops bouncing, I hope to have a
career in sports medicine. I’m working
hard in school so I’ll be prepared for life
after basketball but hopefully, the ball will be
bouncing for a long time.By the way, please look at the bottom of this page and sign my guestbook. Thanks.
