BROKEN PARTS!
Parts breakage is an inevitable part of
drag racing. This is especially true when drag racing a car with a manual
transmission.
Below are some pictures of the more violent parts failures I've had both on the
track and on the street.
Here is my stock aluminum drive shaft that failed after a 4000 RPM launch on ET Streets. All I can say is thank God for drive shaft safety loops!
Here's a few pictures of my original T56 transmission that failed after a 4200 RPM launch on ET Streets. I was still running a stock torque arm mount that placed a lot of undue stress on the rear of the transmission case. Note the broken output shaft. Again, thank God for drive shaft loops!
Here are some pictures of a second T56 failure. This was the result of a front drive shaft U-joint coming apart at 120MPH. This one gave me and my windshield a good soak down with hot transmission fluid when it came apart. Note that even the bell housing failed on this one. Oh yeah, have I mentioned how thankful I am for drive shaft loops?
