Dan Hamhuis (D) CAN 6-0 195 18
PG(WHL) 62GP, 13-46-59-125

Dan Hamhuis moved past Steven Weiss in the final Central Scouting rankings and that's quite an accomplishment considering Dan's size for a defenseman. Hamhuis is 6-0 and 195 pounds, not a giant by NHL standards. While not being the complete physical package as some of the other d-men in the draft, he is a very skilled blueliner.

"There is nothing fancy about him, but he has great hockey sense and is competitive. He does everything you would want defenseman to do," said an NHL GM about Hamhuis recently.

Hamhuis is considered a good skater while being very agile. Scouts like the fact that he plays with a mean streak while being more than willing to get involved physically. His transition game is good, because of his first pass out of the zone. If Hamhuis could somehow get some more muscle, he would more than make up for his lack of size by the defenseman standard.

Hamhuis' skill will be his bread and butter and he should turn out to be a very good NHL defenseman.
