Barrett Jackman

Matt Habbauer

David Kaczowka

2001-2002 SEASON PREVIEW

Losses to:
Overage: Blake Evans, Brett Lysak, Paul Elliott.
Expansion Draft: Robin Bigsnake, Donald Choukalos.

Goal: Chad Davidson '82, Marcus Wright '82.

Davidson looked ready to take the job at the Memorial Cup as he was outstanding. If he carries that over next season goaltending will be the least of Regina's worries. Look for the Pats to bring in a youngster to groom for the future.

Defence: Jeff Feniak '81 (?), Barret Jackman '81 (?), Garnet Exelby '81 (?), Ryan Thrussell '81 (?), Filip Novak '82, Brett Bartel '82, Tyler Findlay '83, Chris Schlenker '84.

Jackman and Exelby will be gone, leaving Regina with Novak, Feniak and Thrussell as the veteran d-men. Playing host to the Memorial Cup often leaves a team with a hangover, and the Pat defence is going to give Parker a pounding headache next season unless by some miracle Jackman or Exelby returns.

Forwards: Gable Gross '81 (?), David Kaczowka '81 (?), Kevin Korol '81 (?), Karel Mosovsky '81 (?), Ryan Thomas '81 (?), Curtis Austring '82, Matt Hubbauer '82, Garth Murray '82, Chad Bassen '83, Grant Jacobsen '83, Kyle Ladobruk '83, David McDonald '83, Zack Roe '83, Dustin Molleken '84, Derek Sunderland '84.

The hangover moves up front as well with only Karel Mosovsky moving on to pro hockey. 5 overage forwards to deal with and at least 2 on defence leave the Pats with some moves to make. The only guy likely to come back as a Pat up front is Ryan Thomas and possibly either Korol or Gross. The loss of Evans and Lysak as playmakers and scorers will be huge. Ourside of Murray, Hubbauer, Austring and Bassen, the Pats have no forwards proven in the league excluding the 1 or 2 possible overagers they keep. Waking up with the Memorial Cup hangover may have GM Parker wondering if it was worth it.

Europeans: Time to rebuild. A young Euro with offensive potential.

Overagers: A big headache as the Pats have 9 on the roster, likely only 3 moving on to pro hockey at best. Look for Thrussell, Gross and Thomas to survive the fallout with Feniak likely being traded to get back some of the talent they traded for the Memorial Cup run.

The City of Regina

Regina, For a city built on a "Pile O' Bones", this provincial capital of almost 200,000 people is a wonderful city. Home of the Roughriders, Regina has to be experienced to be truly appreciated. Regina is the commercial and financial centre of the province. Since the first pioneers first homesteaded in the early 1880's, local residents have transformed the flat, treeless prairie into a city of shaded parks and streets.
Wascana Centre, is a 920 hectare area in the heart of Regina where the man-made Wascana Lake is situated. The park is the location of the Saskatchewan Legislative Building, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, the Saskatchewan Center, and the Saskatchewan Science Centre.
Regina became the "Home of the RCMP" in 1885, when the Royal Canadian Mounted Police chose the city as the site of its training academy.
Regina's Market Square is a 24-block area in downtown Regina with more than 700 retail stores, services, theatres, restaurants and other attractions.
Also downtown is Saskatchewan's largest shopping mall, the Cornwall Centre. The major malls out in the 'burbs, Northgate, Victoria Square and Southland, offer one-stop shopping.
