FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is this whole thing about?
"The Spy" is based on the concept of "The Mole". For detailed rules, you can check out the intro movie. Basically, the show is a mystery themed competition where ten players are competing for money and must deduce who amongst them who is The Spy, a traitor out to cost them cash from their prize of up to $200.

I’m too lazy to download the intro, what are the rules?
Fine, if you want to be difficult. There are ten players competing in challenges, puzzles and games to win money. Even though they must work together as a group, in the end only one player will win that money. One player is The Spy. Their job is to sabotage the efforts of the others and try to cost them as much money as possible. The players must deduce who amongst them is The Spy and learn as much about them as possible. Each round the players take a Quiz which tests their knowledge of who The Spy is. The scores are never revealed, but each round the lowest score is ‘executed’ and eliminated from the game. This continues until only one player is left with The Spy, and it is that player who wins the prize money.

Be honest... is it good?
Honestly – If you like "The Mole", then you’ll enjoy "The Spy". Straight up, we’re not kidding. We don’t have a million dollar budget and a month-long shooting schedule, but we like to think that we worked magic with what we did have. There is just as much suspense, intrigue and mystery that can be found in the ‘real’ show. You’ll be second guessing who to suspect, who to root for and who will come out on top.

Twenty bucks?! Is the DVD plated in gold?
It’s not just one DVD. You’re buying a box set here. Four discs, with seven episodes (each one ranging from 30 to 60 minutes). With some extra features (including episode-by-episode analysis and recap and a post-game Spy interview), you’ll have over six hours of PURE Spy-licious entertainment.

"Spy 2"? Was there ever a "Spy 1"?
There sure is. "The Spy" began as a campus-TV show at Towson University in 2002. We are working on the DVD which will be for sale later in the year. Trust us, you’ll be just fine starting off with "Spy 2".

So how about a "Spy 3"?
The Spy 3 is currently in development now. We are trying to reinvent the wheel somewhat with it, however, and the testing will take some time. We want to try to get away from cloning ABC's Mole formula, while keeping the spirit of sabotage. So far, we're liking what we're seeing and can't wait to shoot it and bring it to the masses.

Tell me about the production
Chris Resnick produced & put it all together – designed the games, hosted it, cast the players and edited the final product. The rest of the crew consisted of three cameras, one audio operator and two production assistants. It was shot in the FRIGID January weather over two days (that’s right – seven jam-packed episodes in just two days time).
Cameras used: Canon XL-1, Canon GL-2
   Editing software used: Avid XPress
DV Authoring software: Dazzle's DVD Complete

Speaking of the crew, who designed this site and the DVD?
The DVD and website were designed by Gatorclaw Productions. You can check out their website at www.gatorclaw.com
