Dress Tux Limo Dinner
Are you ready? A look at preparing for the prom and ball
By Sarah Marchi

Tonight’s the night! Forget about every little petty thing, make yourself look great, and party until the sun comes up. The junior prom and the senior ball are special nights when you don’t concentrate on anything else but looking good and having a great time.
“I want one night with no fights, arguments or problems; I just want to have fun,” said Junior Jann Zabelney.
The prom and ball are usually nights when you don’t have to worry about big things going wrong. “It’s the last kick off before college,” said Senior Dave Street, commenting on the senior ball.
Whether or not it’s the Senior Ball or the Junior Prom, students prepare months in advance to try to make it a perfect night. There are many things that you have to prepare for, when attending either of these events.
The major styles for girls this season are low cut strapless pastel colored dresses. Ann Johnson, of David’s Bridal said, “Spaghetti strap and halter top dresses are very popular this season. It’s hard to make every girl happy because we only have so many of each dress and, when the girls don’t get the dress they really want, it makes me feel bad.”
Mrs. Johnson also said that pastels and whites are the most desired color this year. “I would say that the emphasis is on the dress and being able to pull off the look of the dress,” said Sophomore Stacie Kryger. Most girls have already gotten their dresses or are going to get them soon.
Hair and makeup are also very important in pulling your whole look together. Michelle Lopez of Larry James Salon said, “I love seeing the looks on the girl’s faces after I do their hair; they always look so beautiful and, when they feel good about themselves, it makes me feel good too.”
“Prom hair” tends to cost around $35 depending on the style. If you are getting your makeup done professionally or you are doing it yourself, many current fashion magazines suggest that you should match the colors of the makeup to the color of your dress.
The guys’ look on prom night is basically a classic black single-breasted tuxedo with a vest that matches the color of his date’s dress. Dave Street said that he went to Tuxedo Park for his tux and it cost him about $100 dollars.
Preparation is not only about the dress, hair and makeup, but many other things too. Josh Orr and his date have decided to take a limousine. Many prom-goers are considering taking limousines.
This type of ride will cost a couple, on the average, $120. Senior Jennifer Duminuco said, “I went to at least 10 different limousine places and rode around. My friends and I finally decided on one, and we paid for it in January.”
Making dinner reservations is another important step to a perfect night. Kristin Spampinato is considering Crescent Beach, she said, for her dining experience. “The dinner sets the mood for the rest of the night,” She also said that making reservations far enough in advance is a good idea because the restaurants tend to book up fast.
After dinner it’s off to the Crowne Plaza for a night full of dancing, laughing, and wonderful memories. Kristin Spampinato thinks that, “Every girl deserves to be a queen on prom night.”
Now it’s time to put all of your preparation to the test and strut your stuff!
