7//8/01 - 11.13pm Maybe it's just me, but have you ever had one of those days when you're walking around town and you feel like it's hard to look at people? I didn't word that how I thought it in my head. Let's start again. Ok, let's say you're walking down the street and of course you're looking at the ground. Cause that's what you do when you walk, right? Otherwise you'd trip over things. Anyway, up ahead you sense some pedestrian approaching along the sidewalk. Of course they're just gonna walk right past and not even acknowledge you, but for some reason this doesn't ease your strange anxiety. What do you do? You have 3 options. 1: You can either lift your head up and look straight at them (which is uncomfortable for both of you.) This would also make you both have to do either the quick 'look away' movement or the uneasy 'acknowledgement' maneuver. 2: You can lift your head up and look steadfastly straight past them (which will probably make you appear like you're trying to look straight past them) 3: Or, you can keep your head down and skulk past, making you look like some unfriendly weirdo. What to do people? I believe it's a lose lose situation. Not that i'm unfriendly or anything, but sometimes I just want to skulk along and not have to worry about dealing with the finer points of sidewalk etiquette. By the way, today was not one of these days. But I have had them in the past. |
