Bringing Old Words Back Into The Popular Lexicon: An Effort By Pete All please be seated. I feel it is my duty as a person who is known as myself to bring great old words and sayings back into the popular lexicon. By this I mean getting people to once again use all those great old words. Slang, curse words, positive or negative. They must all be saved. There are many old words that I personally cant stand, or at least couldn't stand back in the old days when I was just a foal. But as I mentioned before, I think it is my duty to preserve these words before they go the way of the dodo or Beta-max. An example of a few of these words are, in alphabetical order: bodacious, bonza, bother (as in "Oh bother, i've just cut off my finger!"), bro, cad (negative term), capital (as in "That's an absolutely capital idea, Gerald!"), chipper, consarn it, cowabunga, dagnabbit, drop-kick (negative term), dude, excellent, flake (negative term), geek, get off the grass, gnarly, goon, grand, groovy, grouse, heel (negative term), hip, hoser (negative term), joker, jinkies, keen, louse (negative term), lousy, mondo, marvellous, neat, neato, nowt (as in "I dont know nowt about women's hygiene products."), ogle, prevaricate, primo, prissy, punk, pipsqueek, queer, rad, rambunctious, randy, rather, spiffing, spunk, top o' the (followed by "morning, afternoon or evening"), tubular, ultra, way (as a reply to "No way!"), wicked, woah, yowza, zang. Basically, I want all of you who read this to start being all old skool. Remember back to when you were younger, and how these and many other words were thrown around the playground like a particularly fun ball. If you dont start bringing these words back now, then I assure you they will slowly fade into dust and then possibly into some sort of fine paste. Do you want that? Do you!? I didn't think so. Heed my warning, and begin uttering these words and any others you can think of in your general everyday conversations. Not only will people think you're really hip and groovy, they'll also pick up on these words subliminally and start spreading them around themselves. In this fashion, we'll all be kicking our heals up down at the ol' speak easy in no time flat. - Utter Peanut Butter Nutter |
