Bavor, son of Ljomi, son of Deling, was born in the halls of Kheled-dum in the Blue Mountains in the late summer of 2919 of the King's Reckoning. His father was (as noted above) Ljomi son of Deling, a lampwright, and his mother was Bari daughter of Uni, a chirurgeon; both were members of the Clan Barazin.

After the death of the worm Smaug and the Battle of Five Armies, Ljomi, Uni, Bavor, and Bavor's younger brother Blovur removed to the Lonely Mountain of Erebor far off in the east (his paternal uncle, Veigir, remained in the Ered Luin for some years before relocating to the Emyn Engrin some twenty years later, to be closer to the source of his beloved Dorwinion Wine). The journey lasted just under a year, and was for the most part uneventful: the orcs of Goblin-town snd Gundabad had been subdued for the time, so the High Pass in the Misty Mountains and the southern slopes of the Grey Mountains were safe for a time to traverse. Only a lone wolf (fortunately not a warg) in the Lone-lands east of Weathertop held the family back, and it was easily scared off with a well-aimed arrow. While he was not in any real danger, Bavor learned to fear wolves after that, and ever after grew nervous in the presence of dogs.

Bavor's earlier years in the Kingdom Under the Mountain were spent studying the trade of lampmaking under his father, but soon grew uninterested in the trade. And so he forsook his father's occupation to study under the miner Fjalsvid. Ljomi was disappointed with his son's decision, but later accepted it and respected Bavor's chosen calling. For many years Fjalsvid continued to teach Bavor the skill of mining. Indeed, Bavor studies under the wise Fjalsvid to this day.

While living in Eriador Bavor had learned to dislike and mistrust the hobbits of the Shire, but he learned to love their wine. From an early age, Bavor developed an appreciation for Old Vinyards wine, a famed variety from the Southfarthing, but was forced to leave his love upon relocation. He did, however, find Dorwinion wine to his liking, but not nearly as much as Old Winyards. Pipeweed, on the other hand, he was never fond of, and was glad to have gotten away from the plant.

Name: Bavor (Norse, grumbler)

Age: 103 (mature adulthood)

Occupations: Miner

What others think of him:
Mother (Bari): Thinks her son needs to learn how to act more pleasantly, should marry before he gets too old.
Father (Ljomi): Approves of his son's serious attitude and thinks he should marry when he sees fit, but wishes he had been a lampwright rather than a miner.
Younger Brother (Blovur): Supportive of his brother but dislikes his tendency to drink and the way he smells after a day in the mines.
Uncle (Veigir): Too drunk most of the time to care.
Teacher (Fjalsvid): Thinks Bavor shows some promise as a miner but needs to take his job more seriously (he is a perfectionist).
Old Nanny (Ofnir): Hates Bavor with a vengeance. Would like nothing more than to leave him to a pack of rabid wolves in the middle of nowhere and watch him die a slow and painful death. Fortunately left behind in the Blue Mountains.

Family: son of Ljomi son of Deling son of Ai. Born in Kheled-dun, family left the Ered Luin 10 years after the Battle of Five Armies to settle with Barazin kinsmen in Erebor. Loves his mother but wishes she would stay out of his personal life; respects his father, sees him as a rolemodel; thinks his younger brother is a silly little hobbit-lover and teatotaler, but looks after him when he's in trouble. Unmarried, and doesn't plan to marry. Very proud of his Barazin heritage.

People he trusts: parents, brother, teacher, drinking buddies. People he doesn't trust: old nanny, uncle.

Strengths: knows to act pleasantly in the company of strangers, durable, fit
Weaknesses: gruff and unsociable in the presence of those he knows, dislikes outsiders
Talents: nothing to speak of

Motivation: wants to live up to his teacher's expectations

Prejudices: dislikes elves (finds Ndaedeldhrim tolerable but not by much), hobbits, and most men, hates orcs and Easterlings, likes Bardings

Favorite things:
Loves: the colors red (reminds him of wine) and brown (rocks), wine (especially Old Vinyards and Dorwinion), his job
Hates: goblins (of course), teatotalers, 'goody-goody' types (not that he doesn't give respect where it's due), animals (except ravens and ponies), pipeweed

Habits: has an unfortunate tendancy to speak in the Westron dialect of the Shire due to his father's early relations with hobbits (ie, occasionally refers to gifts as mathoms, holes in hillsides as smials), scratches his head when he's nervous, strokes his beard when content, dresses up for big occasions, buys friends gifts when he's happy, generally dislikes females of all races.

Ambitions: would like to be as skilled a miner as his teacher, remain a bachelor, visit Barazahar before he dies.

Fears: dogs (see above), water, large animals (dragons, bears, horses, etc.)
