The Potts of Michel Delving are a rich and aristocratic group of merchants, politicians, and artisans with links to other important families, including the Grubbs, the Bunces, and the Proudfoots. The best known Pott was Halcho, better known as Old Mayor Pott; it was he who kept the Shire safe when a Troll was seen near Michel Delving. Other notable Potts include Malcho, the builder of Pott Manor; Filby, the owner of several pottery shoppes; and Wilby, who mysteriously disappeared and, according to some stories, came back as a ghost on All Goblins' Eve.

Aside from their wealth Potts are also known for being rather odd. Filby, for example, had trouble remembering his own name, and his brother Twilby was a complete idiot by any standards.
