Rune
of thorns for magic-make
The little people know, Of
the children of the briar, Many many well done things, Of
both good and bad.
What is hurting you the most, Is the
smallest little thorn. And that smallest little thorn, Is
the biggest earth giant.
What you ask and need the
most, For the magic pay the price, And this one of
sacrifice, A bit of blood in your hands.
Shaman's
needles used to heal, Hawthorn's magic you can feel. Briars
well grown none may pass, All of them, they have to
ask.
Shaman's arrows sent to kill, Be poisoned they
sometimes will, Seen in soul, in mind or flesh, Out of the
wound while still fresh.
Not all bad from outside
comes, You yourself sure have done, Get the thorns fast out
of there, You'll be better than you were.
Some of the
best blessings done, From the Hawthorn they have come. Some
of the worst curses done, From the Blackthorn they have
come.
Neither good nor bad, The children of the
briar, This is a fine little something, That you should
learn and know.

Word/Concept:
T is for trouble taken in your stride.
Stave: Thors
hammer (mollijner) laying on its side, and the thorn from a rose
bush.
Word/Concept: If you read the myths about
Thor, he is shown as a large, strong, but noticeably thoughtless
god who always gets himself into trouble, and has to use his
trusty war hammer to get him out of it. It is not surprising that
his hammer was worn as a talisman for Protection and Defense for
this reason, this rune means exactly the same - protection from
ones own folly, when you are un-able to influence the situation
for yourself. This can sometimes be seen as 'luck'or the gods
smiling on you (particularly Thor), but it is also the ability to
circumvent problems before they become out of control. In this
case it is best to look at this rune as the thorn of the rose
bush; the temptation is to pick the bloom because of its beauty,
but the thorn warns against such an action, unless you wish to
risk injury. This rune can therefore also be seen as one of
Warning.

Certains

A
rune of thorn
We
are the children of the briar, uninvited guests the knots
untied bright cords cut. We cannot be forgotten will not
fall away but wait in stillness at the heart of the hedge.
