'magick circle' n. - Powerful scared space that represents
Wiccan hole ground or a Wiccan Temple.

The knowledge of the magick circle is one of the greateat gifts given to us by Spirit. Conjuring a magick circle represents a mental art of the Witches, a technique learned early in our training. The magick circle functions as our church, our holy ground, and our place to hold power until we are ready to release that power. This circle also keeps negative energies away from us while we work, so that we may be pure in our intentions. Thanks to misinformation and Hollywood garbage, many people believe that the magick circle represents evil or holds evil. To these people, I say simply: "Get real. I've got better things to do with my time."

Casting a magick circle is very easy, and you will find, as you study, that there are many ways to conjure your mental temple. Let's watch Angelique as she casts a magick circle.

Angelique walks to the center of the room, takes a deep breath, and relaxes into perfect calm. She then walks to the North of the room and holds her dominant hand out from her body. index finger pointing down. As she begins to walk the circle in a clockwise direction, speaking the words of the circle casting, she imagines a beautiful hedge springing as her finger glides throught the air. Angelique say:

By the time Angelique finishes saying these words, she had walked the circle three(3) times. The cirlce does not have to be as big as the room, the circle can be as small as she likes, as long as she remains standing (or sitting) within the boundaries. Now Angelique walks to the North quarter of her cicle, pounds her hand on the ground, and says:

Angelique has just affirmed that her circle is a large bubble, reaching above her head and below her feet.

Once Angelique has cast the cirle, she tries not to walk in and out of the energy she has cast. Over time, you will become sensitive to the engeries of the circle boundary and feel the difference of having a circle and not having one. If Angelique needs to go get something outside the circle, she will "cut a door" with her hands (like parting a curtain) and then close the circle from the other side (like letting the curtain fall back into place). She'll get what she needs, and then open the circle and close the circle again. Angelique will try not to leave the circle too often, because each time she cuts the door she weakens the circle's structure.

When Angelique is ready to take the circle down, she will walk counter-clockwise, starting from the West, moving South, East, then North, drawing the energy back into her finger. When she reaches the West again, she will pound on the ground and say:

You should preform most magickal work and ritual celebrations within a magick circle.
