You will often hear witchesdiscussing the cone of power. This cone of energy manifests when a single witch or a group of witches work magick or ritual together. Imagine a group of people standing together in a cirle. People who can dance well stand at strategic points in a circle. A candle sits on the floors in the middle of the circle, named for a magickal intention such as healing, prosperity, etc. The group of people dance around the candle in a deosil (clockwise) pattern until they believe they have created enough engery to send into the universe to make the change they desire. If a group of people have gathered to banish something, they begin dancing deosil to unite themsevles in a common cause, and finish widdershins (counter-clockwise), a predetermined amount of rounds of each. Then the people form a line with hands and rush towards the candle shouting the thing they want (or don't want). Does this sound silly?? Did you notice that I didn't say these people were witches?? Any group of people can use song, dance, chanting, or prayer to create energy, whether those people participate in a rock concert, go dancing at a school fling, watch or participate in a sports event, sit in a church service, or whirl around in a square dance in the school gym. Most of the people involved in any of these activites don't realize that they are rasing energy, and so that engery dissipates into the universe without focused cause or good use.
Witches draw power from several sources, including Spirit, the Elements, the Ancestors, and the Angels. Any individual in any religion can draw the power from these same sources. Witches use there own power - power of the mind - to manifest what they need, whether they participate in a group environment or work alone.
