First of all I want to differenciate between Ceremonial Magick Ceremonial magick in one word: elaborate. Every ceremonial ritual is planned in detail beforehand. The rituals themselves tend to be very elaborate, including hour long poetic invocations (ok maybe not hour long but you get my drift), lots of little nifty tools and goodies, etc. Also much thought is given to the timing of the ritual work The basic thought behind all this - as I perceive it - is to create mystery, a magickal setting for effect, because that will act as a trigger for a shift in consciousness. All magick is performed in an altered state of consciousness - if you don't get yourself in the right frame of mind, your magick simply won't work because there is nothing behind it. Natural Magick Natural magick can be as elaborate as you like, or it may be intuitive and spontaneous. Personally, I use this form of magick because I am a very intuitive person and much of the beauty of my faith would be lost if I had to sit down and plan everything I do - although I will plan rituals for the Sabbats for example, or anything that needs to be elaborate. Natural magick is the practice of using the forces of nature entwined with those of our minds and bodies. It is far more a joining with the earth rather than just using its energies. The beauty of it lies in that connection, and in its simplicity. It really can be as simple as letting your need flow into a fallen leaf, and then tying it to a tree, or giving it to a stream or river. You can divine by watching the pattern of the clouds above change, or gazing up into the crown of a tree and looking at the patterns of the leaves. Its out there and it's free - I'm sure the tree won't charge you any money, nor air, water, or fire. No nifty little tools involved which can set you back half a year's wages. The magick is in you and in nature.
Now, within those two larger bodies of magick, there are smaller ones and here they are:
