Meditation and visualization: It is helpful to create a guided meditation, whereby each person can welcome the spirit of a deceased person (or even pet) whom they love to the circle. This is an opportunity for the participants to establish some colsure in these relationships so bring plenty of tissues.
The ritual: The leader goes to the altar, holding up the pomegranate toward the sky and saying -behold the fruit of life-. The leader pierces the fruit with a ritual dagger and continues. -Whose seeds ie in the dormancy of death, we taste the seeds of death-. The leader eats of the fruit, then passes it around the circle. Each participant takes one seed and eats it. The leader now takes the apple and holds it up saying - behold the fruit of wisdon , the fruit of death-. The leader then cuts it crosswise in half so the inner pentagram formed by the seeds can be seen and continues. - Whose symbolism rewards us with life eternal, the five fold star of rebirth. We taste the freit of rebirth- The leader eats a small slice and gives one to each participant, as with the pomegranate. After this the leader presents each person with a pot of soil, explaining that it represents the time of dormancy and potential. this is a time when all should reevaluate their lives, and plant three values (the seeds) they wish to cultivate. Once everyone has channled his or her hopes into the pots, each person holds the pot to the sky, saying thrice : The sun is concieved in darkness, cold is the shadow of death, life unflods, a shred of light begins to burn, from death comes life, the circle turns.
Other activities: At some point in the ritual those who wish to may use dinination tools to speak with the spirits assembled. People should take notes of thier experiences and any messages recieved.
Closing the circle: Banishing begins at the western quarter and continues clockwise to symboize hope and fullfillment. While saying: Blessings upon thee, wondrous spirits of summerland, We humbly thank you for joining in celebrations this sacred night. We beseech thee, Pan, guardian fo dead Embrace once again those souls in our keeping, That even the lost and wondering find their way to peace. Let them stay with you until they are refreshed and reborn in perfect love. We bid the a fond farewell. So Mote it Be. |
