      Beltiane celebrates the emergence of the young God into manhood. He desires the Goddess and His desire is mirrored in all of nature. They fall in love, lie in the fields, and unite. The Goddess becomes pregnant by the God's seed. The Wiccans celebrate the symbol of Her fertility in ritual.

      The Dance of the Maypole is symbolic of the union of the Goddess and the God. The flowered topper represents the Goddess' fertile womb. The pole itself is the phallic symbol of the God. The winding of the ribbons is the joining of the two.
