It is very important to study the Myths and Legends of what ever Path you have chosen. I have chosen the Ancient Celtic Path, which puts me at somewhat of a disadvantage as most Celtic Traditions are either Irish, Scottish or Welsh, all of which are centuries after the time when the Keltoi controlled all of the known European countries. Evidence has been found which shows the Keltoi spread from Yugoslavia, throughout Europe, to China and even the Americas. You’ll have to check out the history section when I get around to writing it for more info on that. But, as usual I digress. The reason it’s important to study the Myths and Legends of your Path, is that they are the oral history of the Gods and the people who worshiped them. They are bound up and told in a way that was designed to have an emotional impact on the people who listened to them. They provide information on the Gods and the people. It would be very nice to know for example that Kali is a Goddess capable of great destruction before you invoked her, and that her Consort can calm her, so you might want to bring him in on it as well, just in case. Many people are aware of Pans sexual representations, but by studying the Myths and Legends we also learn that He is very protective of the young of all species. If you want someone to protect and cherish your child, to help you find a lost child or pet then he is the perfect God to call on.
