Solstice Song and Other Poems
by Stephanie Pflumn

This night
will be
long and dark.

But even as
Grandmother withers
in the lingering
darkness,
a new Light
will be born,
this night.

When morning comes
tomorrow,
the Light will be
stronger
the day will be
longer.
Hope may replace our
sorrow,
when morning comes
tomorrow.

Know your walk
in the
darkness
will be turning
toward
the sunshine.

This is your Grandfather's sign
that in the night
that is the darkest
His loving light
always returns
by perfect design.

Jingle bells
tinsel, garland
Chanukkah candles,
Holly and a Yule log
burning,
warming
the Family Hearth.

Gathering together
to challenge the weather,
darkness and cold,
is our oldest tradition
and favorite celebration.

Joining Relations
to ignite
a symbolic Flame
that will light
the long night
heralding the Natal Sun
again.

Happiest of holidays my dear friend!

4 blessings,
Stephanie
