Finally I stand on the edge of the plateau
And look back down the mountain slope
My eyes, with a lover's possessiveness,
Caress each stone and bush my feet had touched
As I had toiled up the winding path
And I smile the predator's smile...
For I have conquered the mountain to win the prize
And now it is mine -
This secret, virgin place where I can be
As one with the sun, the earth and every living, breathing thing.

My exhilarated laughter echoes across the silent meadow
As I throw my arms wide and dance with wild abandonment
In a pagan dance of joy for I have never felt so alive and utterly as one
With the universe that surrounds my body and soul with its living embrace

I stand with heaving breast and feel the sweat trickle down my body
In caressing rivulets while my muscles quiver with fatigue and ecstasy
As I offer myself to the sun as a willing sacrifice for its life-giving heat
And the indescribable joy of being able to share this bounty
of the earth-mother's womb, which she so freely bestows...

As I lower my overheated body into the icy river stream
And allow the cool and crystal clear water to revive my aching flesh
I open wide my mind to the glory of this secret wonder world
And feel my soul take flight like mythical Pegasus
As I drink in the overwhelming smells, sounds and sights that fills my very being
As I realise that, no matter how long I stay where I am right now...
The need to come back to this enchanted place will gnaw at my belly evermore...

I lay in the laving water for the longest time, my hair spread out like a living tide
Floating free in my private reality, untouched by the shackles of senseless morality
And tiresome restrictions that binds us to the mundane world

Time and space condense until naught exist beside this magical realm
Of sun, sky and wild growing things
And I know the same awe with which the first human being must have stared
At the world that surrounds me and enfold me in a living cloak

After time without end and yet in the blink of an eye

I feel the sun's hot tendrils licking my skin
And I realise time has moved on.
I rise from my watery bed and make for the meadow,
my feet leaving moist footprints in my wake until I reach the centre of the meadow bowl
I slowly turn a circle and drink in the sight of the living, waving field
of golden faced daisies waving lazily in the wind

Nestling down amongst the myriad caressing fingers I smile at mother natures finery
For surely no human bride - no matter how rich or how fair of face
Could ever rival the wondrous garb of our mother earth
As she shows off the splendour of her multi-hued robes

All my sense, aye - my very being is permeated
With the warm smell of moist earth and growing things
And with the innocence of a child I sit cross-legged
And adorn my nakedness with daisy chains
Until the stillness without drives out the last of the demons within

At last I am free of all the poisons that the so-called modern world
Have used to assiduously to try to kill my soul
I feel the softest caress upon the tip of my breast
And I see a brilliant blue butterfly perched on the sensitive peak
And I smile with blissful content at this...
The tangible sign of approval from nature herself
