Clandestine Brotherhood
The Clandestine Brotherhood is an isolated migrating cult group in America. They are led by Brother Jimmy T. Roberts- the so-called "Brother Evangelist." It is one of the many cults within Christianity. The cult is known to outsiders as "the Brethren" or "the Garbage Eaters." Roberts carefully controls every movement that each of his followers make. The group recruits vulnerable young adults on college campuses. There are often descriptions of people with promising futures in their education who become depressed and are preyed upon by the group and therefore join it. Roberts convinces his followers that if they leave his group, then they will be eternally damned. He uses an isolated quote by Jesus in the gospels to present the idea to his followers that their family is their enemy. People who communciate with their family are automatically excommunicated from the group. The movement wanders the country sleeping in public places and are told to eat out of garbage cans because they need to learn to live without gratifying their own desires. The most accurate guess about the group is that they are an ascetic cult within Christianity. That is they feel that in order to show their humility and to be free from the worries of life they should forsake all the common needs and settle only for what they need to survive which is any kind of food. That would best explain why they eat food out of garbages. Roberts is an ex-Marine, a hairdresser, and a preacher. Roberts requires women that join the group to carry dirt in their pocket to remind them of how low they are. This is all that is known about the cult at the moment. It is hard to find out anything else, because they are very optimistic about speaking their doctrine and they constantly try to avoid the media.
