Micah |
||||
The book of Micah like most of the minor prophets contains prophecies of judgments against the Israelites. Particularly Judah and Samaria. Micah warns against going head to head with the will of God and he speaks of how there are many false prophets in the land. Micah promises deliverance to the nation of Israel after the judgment of God came upon them. he then rebukes leaders and prophets of that era who compromised the truth of God's word to fit in with the customs of the day. Micah then shifts to speaking about how the mountain of the Lord will be established in the last days. He speaks in chapter five of a promised ruler from Bethlehem. He also has many other Messianic Prophecies. He then swicthes back to the Lord's case against Israel. He speaks of Israel's guilt and punishment and misery. He says that they may be miserable, but in the midst of misery he himself will watch in hope for the Lord. he speaks of Israel as rising back up even after judgment for sin. In the last chapters he exhorts the people of Israel to be good shepherds of the people. The book concludes with a prophecy that refers to God as the Shepherd of the people. |
