80 percent of the material discussed on this page is a correlation of material from Walter Martin's "Kingdom of the Cults", The World Book Encyclopedia, and The Ontario consulters of Religious Tolerance. To order Walter Marint's "Kingdom of the Cults"- you may click on my link to the Christian Research Institute on thispage and go to their book offers. The "Kingdom of the Cults" is a discussion of many different religions and cult groups throughout the world. This book is a good resource for Christians especially those who are planning to go into apolegetics. It is biased towards the Christian faith in some ways but gives a very accurate depiction of the truth about these movements. A link is also on this page to the Ontario Consulters of Religious Tolerance. They prsent a good account, though much of their purpose is simply to promote religious tolerance. They try to claim an unbiased view, yet their biased is obvious on their webpage. They do not give an ccuarte representation of the full Christian side of the story on many issues including Evolution and Creation. In addition they distort the facts about homosexuality so that they can promote the absurdity that it is genetic. They distort the truth about many people from the past and ascribe them to wrong religious movements. They have labeled Immanuel Kant as a Deist when it is known that he was obviously a devout Christian. They have also labeled Albert Einstein as an atheist and humanist, when he clearly stated that he did believe in a creator God. They push the corrupt idea that most of our founding fathers in America were Deists. Though a great number of people and our founding fathers were Deists, they have twisted the idea out of proportion in many ways because more of them were devout Quakers and Orthodox Christians than were deists. Yet, they are a good resource to read. Just be careful about what you read from them because they distort a lot of the facts. I am grateful for their information though and would like to express gratitude for their website, even though it is just slightly over half accurate in its depictions. The other material I have posted is either from Encarta Encyclopedia or is from notes I have taken with my High School Bible teacher Lane Stallings, and many of my professors. I would like to send out a special thank you to Lane Stallings of Concord High School in North Carolina for her encouraging me to go into the study of religion and to use the wisdom God gave me. I would also like to send out a special thank you to Dr. James D. Tabor of UNC-Charlotte for his guidance in my studies and for his enthusiastic eaching ability which has brought a renewed seal for studying religious traditions worldwide. Even though it is not his purpose because he does not cliam to be a devout Christian, he has instilled within me a zeal to study each tradition and it has helped me to strengthen my faith in Christ in numerous ways. |
