Entry for August 20, 2007

Just got finished watching Take Me. I got the DVD through Amazon a few months ago and I've only just now watched it. It doesn't have any special features but it does seem to have some extra scenes that weren't in the first version I saw a few years ago, which someone had taped from TV. I think it was that Mordred person who made the tapes and the first one I got was her usual bootleg crap taped off another videotape or something, so the quality was awful. I later got another taped version from someone else which was better. But DVD is definitely the best way to see Olga in all her glory. This was probably one of her sexiest roles and she looks just gorgeous in all her scenes. I think my favourite one is near the beginning at the party where she has this sleek black outfit on. Of course, the nurse uniform is alluring. Then later, the kimono at the cottage. Wow.

Now that I think of it, just about everyone in this movie has great clothes, except for Robson Greene, who looks like a hapless clod in ill-fitting suits throughout. I really don't `get' him if you know what I mean. His character has some odd contradictions to him. At work he's this top gun corporate shark but when he's at home, dealing with his family or his swinger friends, he seems like such a naive goof. I really don't get what Andrea sees in him. And why did she call him on the phone when he was first in the house? That part is never explained. Quite a few things are never explained in this movie, like who killed Connie/Janet. Was it Doug? Andrea? It didn't seem like Doug would have had time to do it. And if Andrea was the murderer, she would have needed Doug's complicity in dispensing of the body. It doesn't make a lot of sense. How does Doug afford a huge house and all those expensive cars (I counted at least three) on a police photographer's salary?

I guess it's not important. The role was a demanding one and Olga pulled it off and really showed her talent. Andrea, we eventually discover, is a very complex character, and not at all who or what she seems to be. Other than that, Andrea is not very much like Lena.

Next up: Monarch of the Glen, and the two Law and Order episodes.

Hey Mary, how are you? Yeah, I'm almost done the next chapter but I've been taking a bit of a break. I'll put it on the site in the next few days, I think. Thanks for reading.
Love and kisses, Wick. xxxxxxxxx
