Chichiri's given name was Houjun.  He is a member of the suzaku seven, sworn to protect the priestess of suzaku.  He is a mysterious monk with two sides to his personality.  The face he shows to everyone else is always cheerful and lighthearted.  Yet, at times, his sadness and loss of innocence shows through and he gets a seriousness about him.  He wears a mask most of the time, which displays a happy face to hide the sadness deep inside--and his scar.  Most of the time, he keeps the mask on, however, in serious times, he takes it off and displays his true face. He likes to kid around a lot, and uses a repetitive ending phrase when he talks, which makes him seem more approachable and lightens the atmosphere a bit.  Possessing honed magical skills, Chichiri was trained in his magic ability by Taiiskun.  He is solid and dependable, willing to do all he can to help.  He is also intelligent...a bit of a philosopher when it comes to advice. In the past, I'm sure Chichiri was always as happy and lighthearted as his mask would have him appear.  However, one event changed him forever.  He was in love with a lovely girl, and she with him.  He also had his best friend, Hikou, close, and the three of them were happy together....until one day when his best friend betrayed him and tried to steal his love.  Feeling impure and unworthy of Chichiri after that, the girl Chichiri loved refused to be with him.  Chichiri was so hurt by this as well as not being able to save his best friend from a flood.  He cried when Hikou died, and regretted being angry at him.  He uses the scar he got during the ordeal as a symbol so he will always remember his best friend and what he had done.  He now wears a mask to hide his disfigured face from others who might be frightened by it. Chichiri's powers deal with magic; Shields, teleportation through his cape and his hat, and destruction of magical barriers to name a few. Chichiri's Kanji of Suzaku can be found on his knee and its meaning is well.
