Tasuki's given name is Genrou.  He grew up in a town named Tai-Tou at the foot of the Linge-San mountain in the prefecture of Ko with his parents and five sisters (a house dominated by women).  He is a member of the suzaku seven, sworn to protect the priestess of suzaku.  He inherited leadership of a gang of mountain bandits from his mentor, the bandit leader and has the tough attitude, confidence, and reputation to back it up.  He has a bit of a foul tongue, often choosing colorful phrases of speech.  He likes to joke around a lot and tease people, but it is only his way of showing affection.  Although he appears tough and solid on the outside, Tasuki has a softer side as well.  Every once and a while you can see some emotion from him.  He professes that he hates girls, however, ends up falling for Miaka.  He feels for her, always being in pain, and wants to protect her and make things better for her.  He is very stubborn, and will fight to his last breath if he believes strongly in something. He has the power to throw fire with his Tessen (iron fan).  He is also fast, and a good fighter. Tasuki's Kanji of Suzaku can be found on his arm and its meaning is wing.
