To avoid any possible
misunderstanding:
Google Search is actually quite a good search engine that does its job
well; else it would never have had the success it had and still has.
But, Google Corporation
has acquired too much power and, as always in such a case,
there is abuse of that power. Google, like Microsoft, can afford,
by now, simply not to care about things they should care about (read
below), can largely do what it
wants and gets away with almost everything. As the recent past has
shown, like Microsoft, they can afford to shrug off
court orders, by now. On
www.newmediajournal.us, where they put together the list of
search engines used for
this site, you
can find that Google are not
as politically neutral as they would
make the world believe. They simply remove sites from
their indexes that don't comply with the "political correctness"
fad pervading almost entire Western civilization and that
self-proclaimed "good" Google has subscribed to.
Nothing as overbearing and arrogant and dictatorial as a "good" and "politically correct" censor, whether it be a self-righteous politician, journalist, scientist, neighbor ...or a search engine. So much for Google's neutral politics. Oh, and I just found out that the "good" and "neutral" Google folks are regular donors to the Democrats: clicky. Personally, my main beef with Google is its disastrous effect on the Usenet. Their "Google Groups" service, more or less, destroyed the Usenet. Trolls and spammers who usually lose their accounts with their ISPs and NSPs, even if only after some hassle, will all find a safe haven in Google Groups and can continue with their abusive, destructive behavior unabatedly ...thanks to Google's protectorship of the vilest scum you are ever going to meet on the Usenet. If you hang out on the Usenet for some time, you will soon learn, like many other posters did already, that the most perverted, obscene, dumbest and sickest trolls and spammers, and the most extremist, fanatic and radical political activists are actually "Google posters", often using a dozen Google accounts, and as many aliases, to mess up the Usenet with Google's help. Some participators on the Usenet try to cope with this by deriding all Google posters or categorically killfiling them. Have a look in some admin newsgroups, and you can find admins discussing Google's devastating policy of simply ignoring any complaint from anyone. "Good" Google doesn't care about the concerns of newsserver administrators who have to cope with all the endless abuse and spam that Google Groups keeps producing on all newsservers, every day. By contrast, Yahoo! that also offers access to the Usenet, is NOT known for the abuse by its users. Seems, Yahoo! does feel a bit responsible for the services it offers. The Usenet is no more what it was after it got messed up completely -and for good, it seems- by our "friend": politically correct and "good" Google! Why other people think Google sucks, you can read up in the "Links" section here. |
