CENTRAL PARK

Photos of Central Park, the now-demolished legendary home of Wigan RLFC.
Apologies for the quality of some of them but I'm not the world's greatest photographer.
Apologies to Wigan Athletic fans but I only have one photo of Springfield Park.
These seven photos were taken at an Alliance team game versus Castleford in 1999.

Two photos from a first team match versus Salford City Reds on 25/7/1999 which Wigan won by 64 points to 2.

Whoever played the teams's entry music had a sense of humour as Salford took the field to the theme from 'Coronation Street'!

Five photos taken on September 3rd 1999, two days before the final game.

L to R.   Popular Side from outside the ground,  View of the ground along Hilton Street,
The scoreboard showing the dreaded message,
View of the Kop through the trees at the side of the River Douglas,  Behind the Spion Kop.

Views from Central Park Way road bridge (known by Wigan Athletic fans as The Giro Stand).

Two photos from happier times to offset the gloom from above.
Displayed here mainly to remind people of the crowds Central Park could hold - SAFELY! - despite what the council's Health and Safety people insisted.  Surely they couldn't have had a vested interest in getting the club to move to the (partly) council-owned JJB stadium, could they?
These are from the match versus the 1986 Australian tourists which Wigan lost 18-26 before a crowd of 30,622.

Two photos from a match between Great Britain and New Zealand about which I remember very little.
I vaguely recall it was the Kiwi's under-19 side and that it featured a young Kevin Iro who had either just signed for Wigan or was being chased by them.
Other photos from the same film date these as being from any time between 1984 and 1989 but I feel that they are more likely to be from 1984 or 1985.
Any further information would be gratefully received.
