THE WEEK IN NEWS

Below are some of the items featuring in football news during the week of the AFC Grand Final.

$250,000 WILL BUY TEASER -South Melbourne WILL sell Brownlow Medallist Ruckman Graham Teasdale over the summer. Carlton seem keenest to get Teasdale's signature, but whether the Blues are prepared to pay a mammoth quarter of a million dollars will not be answered until after this year's finals. The South Melbourne committee recently decided against selling Teasdale to Carlton this season for almost $200,000. In delaying a sale, they have ensured that Teasdale does not embarrass them by being a top player in this year's finals.

W.A. PAIR FOR VFL - Western Australia could lose two of its most outstanding rovers to Victoria. Tony Buhagiar and Jim Krakouer played for WA on Saturday, and are keen to play in Victoria. Essendon have spoken with Buhagiar and want to entice him to Victoria next season. The explosive Krakouer, who has played only 35 league games and at 20 will be waiting some time for a clearance, wants to try his luck in Melbourne.

BRIEFLY...

  • Richmond clear Alan Edwards to Collingwood in exchange for $100,000 and three players - Craig Considine, Ross Considine and Rod Oborne.
  • Announced that a $2 million instant replay scoreboard will be installed at VFL Park next season.
