Round Rock to Tejas Camp

DISTANCE: 42 miles round trip.

DESCRIPTION: I love this route because it is all killer hills (by Texas standards) and very little traffic. Goes from Round Rock to Tejas Camp, which is on the San Gabriel River West of Lake Georgetown. Some of this route was used for Round Rock's "Outlaw Trail" century.

FOOD AND WATER: There is a water fountain at Tejas Camp, near the Park Host.

WHERE TO START: From Round Rock, park in the Vista Oaks neighborhood. From 1431, go North on cr 175 and take the first left, which is Vista Isle. Go all the way to the end and there is are parking spaces for the neighborhood park.

ROUTE: Round Rock to Tejas Camp: Go back to county road 175, left on 2243, right on 268 ( there is a cool descent here, watch out for the Rottweilers near the bottom, then across the SLIPPERY low water crossing), left on 267, right on 266, straight across Hwy 29 to cr 260, right on 258. If that wasn't enough hills for you, continue out to 3405, then go right for one last big climb.
