The End of a Begining

Chapter 1

by Aznfiregoddess

"Mission completed," Heero said as the news spread throughout Earth and the colonies.

"We finally brought peace to space and the colonies."

"Yeah," Duo agreed with his usual happy-go-lucky persona. "Tonight we drink and party like there's no tomorrow !!" The other pilots just nodded and they celebrated.

~ ~ ~

The smallest of all the female pilots ran through the house excited. She ran through the hall filled with joy and her chocolate color eyes glowed with happiness. The news about the war had such an effect on her. She was a bite uneasy when she just heard it but after an hour of denial she found herself jumping then running to tell her god sisters.

// A fiery red head wiped black oil grease off her fingers with a red cotton cloth and sighed in exhaustion and satisfaction. She looked over to the computer screen of her Gundam, Phoenix, and smiled as she finally finished her computer program Polaris.

After so many years on working on Polaris she was finally finished with it. The song that had been playing suddenly stopped. She glared at the radio. That had been her favorite song and they just suddenly stopped it. How unfair. She almost willed the radio to explode when the sudden special announcement caught her attention and she decided to spare the box of metal for the moment.

"Please excuse this interruption ..... But there is an important announcement ..... the war HAS ended and peace treaties are being made as we speak." That was all the announcer had to say.

The red head was left speechless ..... Was it true ? Are we really free ? .... she asked her self in her mind. She sat there listing to the announcer. He describe what had happened and how the war ended. He also talked about how the peace would never be destroyed again, a promise from all the world leaders. An hour had pass when she came back to her sense .....

It is true the war is over and I'm free ... I'm free ... she thought peacefully. She closed her eyes in relief when they opened quickly. Her eyes turned to the computer system she was working on about an hour ago.

"Fuck ! What the hell am I suppose to do with that piece of shit now ?" She cursed out loud. "Damn, what the fuck is this thing worth now ? Oh well ..... the wars over and that's all that matters." She gave a little nod and a small grin. //

Still running the red head found her sisters at last living room. They were part of the war but because of their last battle, their Gundam's were in bad shape and needed repairs. Kigeara, being the only one with any idea of how to fix it, had work to do. Where her sisters had free time to do whatever they pleased. Whilst Kigeara had to go around do everything and making sure nothing was wrong with their Gundams. Running into the room Kigeara found her sisters all doing something different with their enormous free time.

Destiny was channel surfing with the most bored expression on her face, Eternity was reading one of her most boring thick books, Faith was flipping through a new perfumed smelling magazine coming from one of her many piles of magazines which was put around her, and Discord was lounging on the carpet with her lap top out and connected to obscure phone lines around the house, hacking into government files.

"Yes!!" Discord suddenly shouted in delight as she tapped furiously at the keyboard.

"What is it?" Everyone asked.

"I just discovered something very interesting."

"What is it?" Destiny asked, sounding a bit impatient as she turned her attention away from the TV for one precious moment of her time.

"Aliens do exist!" Discord shouted triumphantly as if it was something that truly deserved praise for. "It's been a government secret for centuries and now I finally found out that it's true!"

Everyone sweatdropped.

"We already knew that!" Faith shouted in annoyance.

"Hell! We are aliens!" Destiny exclaimed, rolling her auburn eyes.

Kigeara sighed and shook her head in exasperation. She had something so very important to say and yet her sister was hacking into government files to prove something that they already knew for years.

"You guys! I have something important to say!" Kigeara shouted over the noise.

"What's up, Kaos?" Eternity drawled.

"It's not Kaos, it's Kigeara! And we're free!" Kigeara shouted.

Everyone was silent.

"We're all free. We're civilians now, we're not warriors anymore!" Kigeara exclaimed happily. Everyone looked at each other and then up at Kigeara.

"What?!" They all exclaimed in unison.

"We don't have to fight anymore! The war is finally over and we don't have to fight any more. No more war, no more fighting. We're finally free from all of our responsibilities," Kigeara explained with stressed patience. She was starting to get very impatient with this dumb act her sisters were giving her. They had to know what she just said, they couldn't be that dense not to understand what she was saying. Shock wasn't something they were taught to know.

"No more war," Faith said slowly. She suddenly grinned broadly. "No more war! We don't have to fight anymore!"

"Say what?" Eternity asked, totally confused.

"Your such an airhead," Destiny sighed as she looked over to her dense Chinese god sister. "The war is over." Excitement bubbled in her voice as she said those words.

"Oh." Eternity paused as to comprehend what was just told to her, her black eyes distant in thought. Then they came back to reality. "Oh! Oh! That's great!"

Everyone sweatdropped.

"God, she's so stupid," Discord muttered under her breath.

"I am not!" Eternity protested, her black eyes flashing.

"Come on, you guys, no more fighting," Kigeara sighed in exasperation as she walked into the room and stood next to the couch where Faith was lounging comfortably, her magazines scattered all over the place. "Now that the war's over I don't want a war in here."

"It's exhausting," Destiny agreed lazily as she switched the TV off. Her eyes danced with excitement as she thought of no more war.

"Duh," Discord agreed as she ignored the constant beep of her black laptop as more information came through from her constant hacking into government files. Kigeara looked at the laptop and frowned slightly. She just hoped Discord had an anti-tracking program up to protect her work. Sometimes the girl was just a little too forgetful, something that couldn't be risked.

"I have one up," Discord said, smirking slightly at her twin sister's worry that she would forget to put up an anti-tracking program to divert any government officials who were just a bit curious about whom was hacking into their files.

"That's good," Kigeara said, breathing a sigh of mental relief. She then grinned and sat down on the arm rest of the couch, pushing her flame red hair out of her chocolate eyes. "This is just great. No more war. No more fighting. It's been so long since we've actually had some fun. What do you guys want to do with this new found free time?"

"Shop?" Destiny suggested hopefully.

"We only shop every other day," Eternity said sarcastically, smirking.

"So?" Destiny said defensively.

"No fighting, people! We do enough on the battle field," Kigeara said sternly, wagging a reprimanding finger at them. "We don't have to do it here."

"No fun," Eternity grumbled as she bookmark her book. Faith snorted in laughter and closed her magazine. "I say we should just have a day of rest with no worry of work."

"That's a good idea. I get to brush up a little more on my hacking skills. I'm starting to get a little rusty. Do you know how long it took me to hacker into the alien files?" Discord demanded heatedly at her loss of skill.

"I didn't think losing your skill of hacking was possible," Faith said, smiling an amused smile.

"It is," Discord said, nodding.

Kigeara laughed lightly. She didn't laugh very much so it felt good to do a little of it, even if it is a little rusty. Happiness filled the European girl as she thought of what she wanted to do with her freedom now. There were so many things she wanted to do with her time. But there was one thing that she wanted to do most. Something she was most determined to do.

"So, what do we do with this new freedom?" Faith asked calmly, her Italian maturity giving her a bit of a serene out look on things.

"We could always visit the bookstores on the other colonies. I've read everything that's decent to read here on L3," Eternity said, frowning slightly at the prospect that she didn't have anything to read. Kigeara dimly wondered how a bookworm like Eternity could be so dense and a total airhead everyone moment. She was an oxymoron all over.

"Geez, you and your books. Their BORING!" Destiny exclaimed.

"No, they aren't!" Eternity shouted defensively.

"You two fight too much!" Discord exclaimed, tired of all the noise.

"So?!?" Destiny and Eternity shouted together. Then they turned and glared daggers at each other.

"I think we should go down on to Earth," Kigeara suggested.

"Earth?" Faith repeated, thinking. "I think that's a good idea. We haven't been down to Earth, have we?"

"No," Discord agreed. "We haven't."

"Then it's a plan!" Kigeara exclaimed happily as she was glad her god sisters were okay with the thought of going down to Earth. Sure, Earth had tried to keep an iron grip on the colonies, but it was such a beautiful place from all the pictures she had seen. She just had to go down and check it out.

"No, it is not a plan," an icy voice said from the door way of the living room.

Immediately all the happiness, excitement and warmth left the room as all the girls looked over to the door way and saw their guardian Lady D standing there with a cold look on her face.

"None of you are leaving for Earth," the woman said firmly.

"Why not?!" Kigeara shouted, anger evident in her voice as she surged to her feet, looking defiantly at her guardian. "Give me a reason why we can't go down."

"Because there are things you all have to take care of. Especially you, Kigeara," Lady D said sharply.

"No!" Kigeara shouted firmly. "I'm not going to do any more work. I'm going down to Earth. I've done enough work so that no one will miss me for a while."

"Kigeara, obey me. You will not go down to Earth," Lady D said firmly.

All the girls were silent as they took in the exchange going on between their sister and their guardian.

"I will not obey you, Lady D. I've done it for years and it's gotten me nothing but more work. The war has ended, I don't have to work any more. I'm going down to Earth and there's nothing you can do about it."

"No more, Kigeara. This senseless argument will not take place out here. We go to my office. Come, Kigeara," Lady D ordered coldly.

"No!" Kigeara shouted again. "Whatever you have to say, you can say in front my sisters."

Lady D was silent as she stared coldly at the defiant girl who stood before her. She looked at the other girls and narrowed her eyes at them. Everyone sensed what was going on and silently left the room.

"What is it now?" Kigeara demanded angrily. "Look what you've done! You've scared off my sisters!"

"They had no business in this conversation," Lady D said angrily.

"And why not?"

"This is your responsibility, not theirs." "Why is it always me?" Kigeara demanded. "Why am I always the one who has to carry these responsibilities on my shoulders? There are more than one person here, the others are just as intelligent and quick to learn as I am."

"That is something that you don't need to know, Kigeara. You must do what I say."

"Always! I always do what you ask of me! Can't you leave me alone??" Kigeara turned and headed towards the door.

"The war has not ended, Kigeara!" Lady D shouted after her.

That caught Kigeara's attention immediately. She did a sharp about face and looked at her guardian in cold disbelief.

"What did you say?"

"I said that the war has not ended. It is not over," Lady D repeated. "Are you that stupid? Didn't you hear what

they said? The war is over!" "That's what they said on the radio. But you know how media lies."

"No! I'm not listening to this! Your lying!"

"I didn't tell you this before because you didn't need to know it. It started out with six scientists and one held a lot of power. This one scientist was killed due to his insane plan of turning Earth into a land of pain and chaos. I witnessed this murder. In order to save my life I ran away to the Elements Kingdom, a powerful kingdom where I knew I would be safe."

//It was a dark room with only one source of light. An empty table sat in the center of the dark room. Six figures started walking out of the darkness and towards the single light in the center of the room where the table was.

"The time has come," said a man in a white lab coat with a mushroom topped

head. "Barton was totally out of control. It is crucial we do this," Dr. J said

gravely. "It is not something we will enjoy," another doctor agreed.

"But it must be done," Dr. J said. Lady D stood there, seeing all of this take place as she wondered if capturing Trowa Barton was going to be simple. But something wasn't right. She had thought they were only to detain Barton and make sure he didn't do anything outrageous. But the air said something wasn't right. These men had something more dangerous on their minds. Lady D was a bit anxious to know what that was.

"Hello, my friends," a deep voice said as Trowa Barton appeared out from the dark.

"What is it that calls my attention on this dreary day?" Lady D watched in horror was the doctors pulled out weapons from their pristine white lab coats. Two of them had guns, the other three had daggers clutched in their hands. Gun shots went off and the cries of death and pain rang through the empty room. The three men stepped forward and stabbed Barton, making sure that the gun shots weren't flukes and that Barton remain dead.

She stepped back away from it all. They had killed Barton. She had naively thought they were only going to capture him and put him away quietly. She hadn't thought they would kill Barton. What of his foundation? Things were not going to go right for a very long time. She had to get away in order to save her own life. Backing away from the horror in front of her, Lady D turned and ran off. The men were too busy finishing their assassination to pay attention to her quiet escape.

~ ~ ~ ~

"My King and My Queen, may I present Lady Discord of Earth," a herald announced.

"My King, My Queen," Lady D said as she swept into an elegant curtsy.

"It is good to see someone of Earth. We don't see many humans from that planet," the King said, smiling at the elegant woman before him. "Tell me, Lady, people from Earth, do you know of the Elements?"

"Yes, centuries ago they called it witchcraft," Lady D explained. The Queen raised an eyebrow, interest evident in her eyes.

"Do you know of the art?" the Queen asked.

"I do," Lady D replied.

"What can you do?"

"I was born with telekinesis." "Please demonstrate your power," the King ordered. Lady D concentrated her power and focused it on the King's crown. Slowly it lifted off the man's head and dropped on his hand.

"As you can see, my King, my power isn't strong but it is enough," Lady D explained.

"Can you teach this art?" the King asked as he placed his crown back on his head.

"Yes, but the person must have a vague idea of this power or born with it in order for me to be able to teach it to them."

Both monarchs nod. "We have a daughter who has this power and we wish her to master it," the King said. He raised his head and waved for a young girl to step forward out of the shadows. She was a mere child of five but Lady D could see that this child held bright intelligence in her eyes.

"Kigeara, demonstrate you power for Lady Discord," the King ordered his daughter. The young child nodded and held up her hand. A bright flame appeared in her small hands. Lady D raised her eyebrow at the display. This child held a lot of power inside of her to be able to create such a flame at such a young age and without any instructions.

"Her power is strong," Lady D remarked.

"Yes, but she needs instruction in order to control it. We can't have more burnt furniture around the palace," the King added dryly.

Young Kigeara smiled and suppressed a giggle as she remembered of all the little things she had accidentally set fire to when angry or having some fun. She looked at the lady that her father had directed as her instructor and saw that she wasn't going to like this woman at all. Lady D looked at the child and already found distaste in her eyes. Oh well, she was going to instruct the child in her power and help her become the most powerful person on the face of his universe.//

"But then the Elements Kingdom was destroyed and I had no choice but to return to these scientists," Lady D continued as she told Kigeara of her story....

//Destruction was everywhere as Lady D raced through the rubble with Princess Kigeara in her arms. She had promised the King and Queen to protect their daughter before they were attacked again and death came to the two monarchs. Lady D promised to protect Princess Kigeara as a thank you to the King and Queen who had given her protection from Barton Foundation.

Lady D raced through the city. She ran until she came to the outskirts of the city and raced into this secret building hidden in the woods. Running into the small flat building, she ran into a room and found four young girls the same age as Kigeara, all of them dressed in the most regal of gowns.

Obviously they were children of rich families. She was about to reach for one of them when the door blew open and a guard rushed in and seized her.

"Stay away from the princesses, woman!" the guard shouted.

Kigeara's eyes flashed a mysterious red gleam appeared in her young eyes. Her eyes suddenly turned a dark red, as dark as dried blood.

"Release her!" The young girl shouted in a voice with far more intelligence and experience than her young age. The guard started and released Lady D in reflex to obeying imperious commands.

He looks at Kigeara and suddenly drops down to his right knee before her. "My apologies, my Princess," the guard said reverently.

"What is this?" Lady D demanded. The guard pointed to a young girl with dark red hair just as similar as Kigeara's. The child looked like an exact copy of Kigeara only her dark red hair was longer and tied back instead of being pinned up like Kigeara's.

"That is Princess Kaeli." Lady D looked at the young girl and her eyes widened. Princess Kaeli looked exactly like Princess Kigeara. How was that? She looked from each girl, back and forth in confusion. Seeing the confusion in the lady's eyes, the guard decided to explain.

"They are twins."

"Why was Kigeara outside while Kaeli was in the palace?" Lady D demanded. "When the girls were being sent to the safe house, Kigeara fought back. She had the same feral look she has right now when she burned a tree to a crisp and demand to be able to remain in the palace."

Lady D looked confused once again. "How did a young girl like Kigeara get her hands on matches?" She knew of the young girl's power but it wasn't so strong as to be able to burn a tree to a crisp. There was probably some other reason than magical.

"She used her hands, Lady," the guard explained, seeming just as baffled as Lady D. "She raised her hand at the tree, a ball of fire appeared before her hands and surrounded the tree. When the fire disappeared the tree was nothing but ash."

"Who's the other girls ?" The Lady asked, looking at the other young children who stood around, looking afraid and lost. "Those are the other princesses from near-by kingdoms of the Fire Kingdom," the guard explained.

"Other princesses?" Lady D repeated. She looked at the girls and saw them looking back at her. "How many different kingdoms are in the Elements Kingdom?"

"Four total including the Fire Kingdom," the guard replied. "Each of their respective elements: Earth, Wind, Water, Fire."

"And what of Love?" Lady D asked. The guard laughed at the prospect of having an element of Love. "There is no Love," the guard replied when he finished his laughing.

"No Love?" Lady D asked. "But Love is one of the natural elements."

"No, lady. There is no Love," the guard assured her.

"What are these princesses doing here in the Fire Kingdom?"

"They were sent here for safety and shelter when their own kingdom was destroyed," the guard explained. "All of the kingdoms in the Elements Kingdom are united as one as allies, but one by one they were destroyed by the Earth Sphere Alliance when they refused to bow down to them. The Water Kingdom was the first to go, the heir to the Water Kingdom was sent to the Fire Kingdom for protection. Then the Earth Kingdom was destroyed and the heir of the Earth Kingdom was sent to the Wind Kingdom for protection. Then the Wind Kingdom was destroyed, so both heirs were sent to the Fire Kingdom. The King and Queen knew that the Fire Kingdom's fall was going to come soon so they sent all the girls to this safe house for protection against the Earth Sphere Alliance. With them alive, their kingdoms have a chance in the future."

"How long was this ago?" Lady D asked. "Thirteen weeks since it has happened." //

Kigeara stood there, looking at Lady D for a long moment. "Why are you telling me this? What does it have to do with anything?"

"Remember the assassination?" Lady D asked. "Yes, but what does that have to do with anything?"

"Trowa Barton had a very powerful foundation called the Barton Foundation. But when he died, the foundation crumbled. But at the time there was the Earth Sphere Alliance, they didn't seek revenge hoping that the Earth Sphere Alliance would do it for them. But it didn't happen, the scientists are still alive and Barton Foundation has grown over the years to something powerful now that OZ is out of the way."

Kigeara shook her head, looking confused.

"Come on, I know your more clever than that. Think!" Lady D insisted.

"What? What the hell are you trying to tell me??"

"A war is going to start again! And that boy of yours will probably be the target. Most of the male Gundam pilots will be the target for Barton Foundation's revenge."

Kigeara shook her head in disbelief and anger. "I don't have to believe this. You've lied to me half of the time, why should I believe you now?"

She then whirled around and left the room without a single word or look back.
