This is my '71 GTO.
I bought this car in 1976 when I was 21 years old. About a month after
I bought it, the engine lost oil presure and siezed. When I tore it down
I found that someone had blown the plastic timing gears, but never bothered
to clean the pieces out of the pan (they had plugged up the pick-up screen!).
I bought a motor from someone who was parting out a '67 Goat, to
get me back on the road, and drove it for three more years before parking
it. I rebuilt the motor and got it running again in 1990 and over the next
few years began to bring it up to it's present condition.
It still uses the '67 motor with 670 heads, a 289/295 deg. cam, Hooker
SuperComp headers with Flowmaster muflers, and a '66 Tri-Power.
It has HO Strongarm springs and swaybars, polyurethane bushings throughout,
and a 12:1 stearing box from a MontiCarlo SS.
I added the wing and mirrors and, yes, I know that the wheels are incorect,
but I like the way they look.
