Biography - Lewis Dutrow
Mr. Lewis Dutrow received a B. S. in Music Education from the University of Maryland in 1979. He also completed additional studies at the Peabody Conservatory and Towson University. He is currently in his twenty-eighth year as Director of Bands at Wilde Lake High School. He directs the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensembles, Marimba Ensemble and a varied chamber music program. Mr. Dutrow also has taught Music Theory and assisted in creating the Music Technology Program. He currently serves as Instructional Team Leader for Fine Arts and has served as the high school band representative to the Howard County Music Leadership Team.

Ensembles under his direction have received awards and recognition at festivals both nationally and internationally as well as in the local community. Mr. Dutrow has been nominated for and received several awards for his contribution to music education and in assisting the students at Wilde Lake. Most recently he was selected as the 2001 Howard County Arts Council’s “ Howie Award “ Arts Educator of the Year and Wilde Lake’s 2004 “Most Effective Teacher”.
