THE SEARCH
Seeking mature responsible adults willing to commit their time and energy to one teenager on the Net. “I will be there for you whenever you need me.” This is the
commitment that you must be willing to make.
THE PLAN
To create a voice chat room where today’s teenagers …
* can come and feel accepted and loved
* WILL NOT be judged or preached at
* can get advice
* can feel 100% unconditionally accepted
* know that promises will be kept
* thoughts and opinions matter
* can get access to the help they need
THE GOAL
*That any teen in need, will have a father, mother, brother or sister figure who
will give them the unconditional acceptance they need and deserve.
*That no teen need endure alone, the pain and suffering that life deals many of
them.
THE ISSUES
The Commitment: This is a VERY serious commitment. If you are considering
becoming involved in this project, please give it careful thought and consideration. Many of these teens may come from homes filled with broken promises; it is
essential that you keep any promises that you make.
Setting an example: It is also essential that you set a good example for these teens.
Watch your language. If you frequent adult rooms, please use names that can’t be
traced to you. These kids will watch and listen and they will learn far more from
your actions than they will ever learn from your words.
A Disclaimer: This is not intended to be, nor should it be viewed as, a counseling
service. Many of these kids may require professional help in dealing with the issues in their lives. Do NOT take lightly their threats of self-abuse or suicide. We will
attempt to locate professional services that these kids can access should the need
arise. Please refer any of them to the professionals when you feel out of your
depth.
The Rewards: “I will be there for you whenever you need me.” is a big
commitment but the rewards can be awesome.
PERSONAL REMARKS
It has been my experience that as adults we often complain about the attitudes of
today’s youth. If every adult on the Net took responsibility for just one teen and
gave them unconditional acceptance, love and encouragement, I believe we could
dramatically impact the world around us. Stop searching for someone else to
change the world, it’s in your hands – do something about it now, join me in this
endeavor.
Every child deserves to be accepted and loved … please help me show these kids
how valuable they are. I don’t know exactly how this will work, I just know that it
has to begin somewhere.
