Ceilings And Walls
(Mitch Malloy/Dennis Morgan)
Daydream eyes
Watched the skies
Til they broke my spell
With the morning bell
I wanted to be anywhere
Anywhere else but there
3:30 came
I'd run down main
To read the latest issue of my dreams
The week's magazines
I just couldn't wait to break free ... from those
Ceilings and walls
Just look around
We build them up
While we're tearing others down
Isn't it strange all our lives
We try to escape from inside
Ceilings and walls
Mom was in her Sunday dress
Dad was in his Sunday best
The tears were running down her face
And he was trying to hold his back
As the Greyhound buss pulled away
I waved from the window with my mind already gone
They tried to hold on
But I couldn't wait to say so long ... to those
Time passes by
There's just no stopping that
We're supposed to gain a wiser eye
The older that we get
But, here we are
It's come to this
This one hurts more than the memory of all the rest
The taxi's outside in the rain
Waiting to take you away
So ... one last look
One last touch
I wish that this could have worked out better for us
But I guess change always comes
It's just a shame we're still running from ...
Ain't it a shame
We waste so much time
Trying to escape from inside
Ceilings and walls
