Asia

Asia is a hot climate continent with many deserts and many
forests and jungles. Many exotic animals inhabit Asia
and so do many exotic plants. This continent has very hot and very cold places
but has some very exotic animals.
Plus, this is a large continent with lots of types of terrain
and can be very exciting.

Bactrian Camel

In the rocky deserts or "steppes" of Asia where the climate get very hot and very cold is where the Asian (or Bactrian) camels roam. The camel's hump contains fat and not water (some people are mislead by this). The camel can survive for 3 to 4 days without food or water because of the fat in the hump. It is adapted to desert life. Camels have padded feet which are very wide.

Bactrian Camel

They have thick pads on their knees and legs and are very strong mammals. Camels have flaps on their nostrils to cover them in a sand-storm. Because of the problem of sand-storms and sand in the wind they have two rows of long eyelashs. They have a tough mouth to eat thorny plants in the desert. The camels are over 7 feet tall at the hump and weigh over 1,600 pounds. Camels are plant-eaters. They eat dates, grass, wheat and oats.
