Wildlife Gardening

As the human population contines to grow out of control more and more forests are cut down,and habitats are lost. Wildlife are losing their homes and food source because of this. This is the mean results or native plants and animals extinction.


Help try to save ,and preserve native plants and wildlife by creating a backyard habitat. Wildlife gardening is easy, and it is fun. You be helping preserve native plants,and giving wildlife a place to call home and feed.

To start a wildlife habitat,you need to have these four important thing:

1. Native Plants-Natives wildflowers,berry plants,shrubs,or trees
2. Water Source-Pond,bird bath/dish,or stream
3. Sheltor-Den,bird or bat house,or hole in the ground
4. Safe Area-Safe/Secure place for animals

Native Plants

Best to grow native plant in your area or state. You want to grow native berry plants for wildlife,berries are the most important food source. For birds,you want to grow native plants that produce a lot of seeds. For butterflies,flowers rich in nector. Native trees and shrubs that produce fruits and nut is great too for small animals. Trees and bushes are also sheltor for small wildlife. It is important to plant many tree as posibable for giving shade to wildlife and us,and producing oxygen.

Water Source

All wildlife need water,to drink or live in. The best thing to put in your garden is a pond. Pond is the best thing for any wildlife garden. Man made waterfall streams that flow by pumps are also great. A birdbath is another good thing,but for birds. Try water dish,it be lower to the ground so other wildlife can drink from it.

Sheltor

All animals need sheltor,but knowing what kind for a certain animals to put in your back yard is something you have to do research on. For example,foxes live dens and hollow logs. Other small animals like rabbits,snakes,raccoons live in hollow logs too,but rabbits can also live in holes in the ground. For birds and bats,but up houses. So learn all about the kind of wildlife that live around you,and learn how  they live and what they live in.

Safe Area

It is also very important for wildlife have a safe place to live and feed. Please besure to give a safe home. Safe from pet dog and cats,children,and weather condition. For bird and bat house,besure they are high off the ground and stable from strong weather conditions. For dens,logs,and holes are protected from rain,strong winds,snow,and temperture(cold mainly).
