Route 60 Memorial Ride Journals Tuesday, October 16, 2001 Mississippi River Dexter to Cairo to Paducah — The diner was open at 4am. The hotel had a washer and dryer. Leaving Missouri clean and dry with memories of good highways, good people, good scenery, good food, a good ride. The Mississippi and Ohio bridges loom ahead. |

I meandered about the Missouri back roads, kind of sneaking up on The Bridge. |
Narrow and tall in a 30mph crosswind. Nothing to do but take the lane and ride like hell. Some how I survived? |
As I headed into Cairo to call it a day, a man in a pickup hailed me down to see Recumbent Red. Lawrence Otey offered a ride over the Ohio bridge. Saved again, I bicycled on to Paducah on Route 60, an 88-mile day. |
