Songs and Music of the Civil War

Lisa Wilkins and Chuck Winch have a deep interest in the music, history, myths and legends of the American Civil War (or War Between the States). Using authentic and reproduction period instruments including banjo, fiddle, guitar, bones and tambourine, they perform the most popular songs of both sides of the conflict, including rallying and patriotic songs, soldier's favorites, sentimental songs, and popular dance tunes of the time. For living history events, they will dress in appropriate (civilian) Civil War era clothing and styles.

In addition, they have written a series of original compositions based on historical incidents, as well as on the myths and legends that enliven the living stories of the war today. Their songs have been well received by historians, reenactors, and the ancestors of the wars' participants.

They are available for entertainment programs with a Civil War theme, or for educational programs that use songs and music to bring to life the sentiments and sensibilities of the Civil War era. They are available as a duo, or with a larger ensemble suitable for balls and cotillions.
