Ex Number Five is a band that should be breaking very soon. Based out of New Brunswick, New Jersey, they have been together for three years. Having a crisp live sound that transfers nicely in the studio, has helped them create a fairly large following. At each show they play, in or out of NJ, fans always seem to know the lyric's. The band lays down some solid, energetic music which is only enhanced by lead singer Alf Bartone's voice, stage presence, and lyric's. The band sounds great live, showing glimpses of their musical roots. At any given point you can hear a small sampling of classic hard core punk , 80's metal, or radio rock. They are currently playing a Weezer cover, that never sounded so good. At their last show on September 29th at the Melody Bar in New Brunswick, NJ, a fairly normal size crowd, with plenty of room to move about, suddenly became packed wall to wall as they started their set. This is nothing new for them. If you need comparisons of music, think: Samiam, Shades Apart, All, Lifetime. Please do not pigeonhole them into one sound. Ex Number Five has major crossover possibilities and appeals to many people's taste and styles. They have a well kept web site, full of every information you could wonder about the band, as well as their releases and concert schedules. You should really pick up their 5 song ep "Override My Day" , available on Husky Records. You will not be sorry. After one listen you will be singing the songs to yourself . A new fan will be born! Ex Number Five is Alf Bartone / Luke Bodenstein / Tim Cuccolo / John Kohler / John Stanley Ex Number Five can also be found on the following releases: |
