The Joys of Life

Love timeless boundless

Exalts the universe

All in one and one in all

The powers that be are heavenly.

The joys of life are many

Linked to that golden key –

Held by such forces that can smother

Though choice remains in power.

What lies within awaits discovery

There’s so much to uncover

Of ecstasy of misery.

Within the spirit lies the universe

And its entire wealth of joy,

A sweetness incomparable,

Or with the turbulence of experience

A sadness reprehensible.

Oneself remains in power

Alike a blade of grass

To bend in stormy weather

Or like the mighty oak

To break and wither.

Choice can be grim,

Lights can grow dim

But joy in fullness ever near

Awaits that golden key

To set it free.

The joys of life are countless

As varied as the universe

And all abide within us.
