TV Up on Blocks

( Cumberland )

I turned on the news, just the same ole message there,

The worlds has gone to hell, and no one seems to care.

One can only take so much, so I reached behind the tube,

I unplugged that black cord and I carried it to the yard.

Every where you go these days, you'll see one hanging there

Maybe in the bar down town, or someone's window sill.

Do you remember days gone past, when we used to sit together,

Have we forgotten how to talk, to share this life's weathers?

Chorus:

Look out in the yard, My TV's up on Blocks!

I don't care if it stays there ... just smash it with a rock!

They told us years ago, it would make our lives much better,

But time has passed, we're no better off, so many 'r disconnected.

We used to sit in circles round, weaving stories and ol' tales,

I can't wait to share again, and we'll send this box to Hell!

So take your box out in the yard, don't care what folks'll think,

Put that thing right up on blocks, sit back and have a drink.

Spend some time with your fellow man, or call up your neighbor,

If you feeling good, set it on fire and do the world a favor.

.... and if the cops stop and ask you why, you can say:

Look out in the yard, My TV's up on Blocks!

I don't care if it stays there ... keep it up on blocks!

(Just)Look out in the yard, My TV's up on Blocks!

I don't care if it stays there ... let's hit it with a rock!

Don't want my, don't want my, don't want my MTV.
