Where Were You?

Where were you when I needed a friend,
Someone on whom I could depend?
Too many times I lay on the ground,
Looking for a hand that was nowhere to be found.

Where were you when I needed a father?
You apparently were too preoccupied to bother.
Hovering over the torso of your lover,
You gave another unborn neglected child a mother.

Where were you, God, when I needed You?
Were the things I prayed for wanted too soon?
Your love has brought me eternal life,
But what am I supposed to do until the end of my plight?

Where were you when I shot myself in the head?
Were you as relieved as I was when I was pronounced dead?
Are you happy now that I have passed away,
Knowing that what is left of me on the earth will soon decay?
