These texture files depict 'D', A20-176, an RAAF CA-7 Wirraway that was delivered in November 1941. It subsequently served with 4 Squadron RAAF. It was involved in the Battle of Wau, Papua New Guinea, Jan-Feb 1943 supporting in a tactical reconnaissance role, Australian and US troops defending the Wau airstrip from repeated Japanese ground assaults. Its usual crew at this time were Flying Officer G. Lansell, pilot, and Flight Sergeant A. Linderman, Observer/Airgunner. After the war it was transferred to the Royal Australian Navy in April 1949 and finally 'struck off charge' in 1957.
