Arthurs Club
Thomas Tallis produced a series of views of London streets around 1838-1840. They were often given away free by advertisers. The two pages downloadable below are a page-spread from issue 14 of his Street Views, depicting St James's Street. You can identify Berry Brothers (wine merchants, though originally tea and coffee merchants), the Carlton Club (then Arthur's Club), and several other buildings still standing today. Note that the eastern side of the street is depicted right-way-up, the western side upside-down. Street numbering is shown along the tops of the buildings.
