Organized May 15, 1957 William P. Duval (1794--1854) was a frontiersman living in Kentucky in the early 1800s. He served as a United States Representative (1813-1815) and as a United States Judge ( 1815-1822). As Territorial Governor of Florida ( 1822-1834), he accomplished the peaceful removal of the Seminole Indians to the southern district. He revised the territorial laws and legislation and improved education in the area.
