"Sunlight is needed for the proper development of fruit color". This photograph is taken by Reinhart Wolf and is used in the book "Japan: The Beauty of Food". The gardener placed a stencil on the apple to block the sunlight. Thus the calligraphy of "Longivity" is beautifully engraved on the skin of this apple. Only in Japan can food be elevated to this form of art. The appearance makes this an important and expensive gift.
