M.C. Escher drawings really got my attention. I found good engineering
applications for these techniques. Between 1977 and 1979, I did some research
in this area while I was teaching at the University of Illinois.
This is an example done by a college student (1978). The user of the computer does
not need any training with the tessellation rules. This image was published in an
article "Interlocking Shapes in Art and Engineering", p. 29-34 of Computer Aided
Design January 1980.
