MATTHEW GILBERT
 

Matthew Gilbert arrived in Boston in the ship Hector in 1637 and the following year came with the other founders of New Haven (now in Conn.) to that plantation where he died in 1680. He became a useful and prominent citizen there, Assistant and Deputy-Governor of New Haven colony. (6) He served as Deputy Governor from 1679-80.
