Zion National Park

The Word: An amazing gorge.
Sun/shade:
Season(s):
Wet weather options:
Style of Climbs:
Grades: All

The Details: Possibly the most beautiful place we saw in the US. I'm just doing a skeleton page for now but intend to elaborate significantly on this!!

The rock: Navajo sandstone.

Access:

A view of the massive 250m+ cliffs out towards the mouth of the gorge. Love those beautiful colours.

Awesome escarpment

*** Turista (aka Tourist Crack) 35m 5.9+/20 (OS)
An outstanding corner crack route. Emphasis on the "+", it's bloody hard for 5.9!

The view as you approach. The one pitch corner looks nice, but the 10 pitch walls behind sort of dominate!!

Mmm parallel crack

Here's me halfway up with the long crux thin hands jamming section above.

Mmm parallel crack

And if you have a 60m rope, it won't quite reach!

Just made it!

And here's 2 views of the best known climb here - the big aid route Spaceshot, with climbers a few pitches up.

Spaceshot

Spaceshot

Don't ask who makes the local pies.

Ho-made!
