The Nine, an Internet Series

Episode One: The Beginning
by PoliVamp

We see flashes of a group of people chanting a spell. A girl in the center (Danielle) yells something like "Hold!" Two godlike figures are then shown, and one of them (the taller of the two) momentarily freezes. The smaller one then attacks him. The four people forming the inner circle of the spell (Robert, Rick, Kathryn, and Kevin) stand up and start chanting louder, as the outer five (Sharon, Mylissa, Michael, Vanessa, and Justin) start to fall back under the pressure of the spell. Danielle calls out for them to hold on longer as she, too, starts to buckle. Back at the two godlike people, the tall one stabs the smaller one, and as pain flashes across his face, lightning shoots from Danielle to Robert, Rick, Kathryn, and Kevin, and then to Sharon, Mylissa, Michael, Vanessa, and Justin.

Two months later, we see Robert walking through a cemetary. He looks around nevously, and then is set upon by a vampire. He fights it off, finally staking it with a tree branch. We then see Kathryn and Kevin nearby, and Kevin asks if they can now call it a night.

Robert, Kathryn, Kevin, and Rick discuss ways to control the vampires in their city (named Summer's Bend) and ways to get better weapons, since they mostly use sharpened wood stakes ("They work well enough, but I prefer some distance from my enemy. Maybe a sword-length?" Kathryn explains). Danielle walks up to them and rather cryptically tells them to watch out for more than just vampires, their enemies might soon take another form. The group looks confused, but Danielle just smiles and walks away. Kevin wonders if they should ask what Danielle's talking about, but Robert won't have anything to do with her.

Soon, Michael and Mylissa show up with news of the location a vampire nest. Michael explains that one of the more powerful vampires in town is located there. Her name is Persia, and she's apparently the leader of the vampires in town. They think she may be responsible for several of the more vicious killings that have occured. Robert asks if the attacks are anything like the one on his mother, but Michael can't give him any more information.

The next night, Sharon and Kevin are out on patrol fighting two vampires. Sharon is having problems with the one she fights, but she manages to knock it towards Kevin, who uses a sword to decapitate it. Kevin turns to the other vampire, who hisses that Persia will drink their blood before the next full moon. Kevin remarks that the vampire won't be there for it as Sharon stakes him from behind. Robert calls Kevin on his cell phone and tells him to meet at Rick's house.

Everyone arrives at Rick's (whose father is a trucker and not often around, it seems) and they discuss the nest that Michael and Mylissa found. Robert wants to attack Persia as soon as possible with a full force. Rick wonders if they are ready to attack more poweful vampires, since they've mostly fought newly risen ones in the cemetary. Robert is adament that they kill Persia. Sharon cautions him, and Robert explodes at her. Vanessa is on Robert's side, and tries to convince the others that they can plan an attack.

Justin asks to at least scope out the factory first, but Robert persuades them to go then and there. Although most are against it, Robert manages to convince them that it will work.

We then see the said factory, and get our first glimpse of Persia. She radiates power and evil. She is currently scolding one of her minions for allowing the people they turned to be staked before she could get them. She then stakes the minion as punishment. Mike, her second in command, warns her that she might not want to stake her own when there are vampire hunters out there. She scoffs that they have only killed newly risen vampires, and once they meet one 'with experience,' they will easily perish.

As Persia finishes her speech to her minions about drinking the blood of the vampire hunters, a bolt hits her in the stomach. Snarling, she turns to see Robert, Kevin, and Vanessa with crudely made crossbows. Vanessa and Kevin both fire and take out two of Persia's minions as Persia orders an attack.

Everyone piles into the building and the battle starts. Only Kevin and Justin have real weapons (a sword apiece), while everyone else is armed with stakes. Persia takes Mike and stands in the back, letting her minions learn from the hunters. Mike worries that they are losing too many, but Persia points out that the hunters are already starting to lose.

Although they are fighting valiantly, the number of vampires is starting to overwhelm them. Robert calls for a retreat as he stakes a vampire. Everyone heads out, with Robert trying a last shot at Persia. She catches the bolt and laughing tells him to fire again. Furious, he exits the building and sticks a bolt in the handles to slow the vampires chase. He yells for everyone to head to Rick's separately.

Everyone arrives at Rick's with various injuries: Vanessa has a patch on her eyebrow, Kevin has ice on his knee, Justin has a black eye, and Sharon keeps walking back in forth with a limp. Robert tells them that they managed to kill at least seven vampires, but the leader and another she kept close to her are still alive. Just as it looks like Kathryn is about to start yelling at Robert, there is a knock at the door. Arming themselves, they open it. Danielle is standing there.

Furious, she asks what possessed them to attack someplace they hadn't been to when they didn't know how strong the vampires there were. She gets especially mad at Robert, but also berates the others for following him and agreeing to the plan. Robert wants to know how the hell she knows about the attack and why its any of her business, since she hasn't talked to them since they did 'that stupid spell that gave us these abilities.' She tells him that she's been researching the spell to find out what happened to them, but leaves without explaining any more.

Back at the factory, Persia berates the remaining vampires for 'allowing those pathetic humans to escape'. She goes to Mike and tells him that her minions are useless if they can't take on some teenagers who have no idea what they are doing. A minion speaks out that they knew how to fight, but Persia stakes him before he gets further. She yells at all of them that she will not tolerate any more laziness from them, and that she will personally see to it that the vampire hunters are slain.

On the outskirts of Summer's Bend, we see a helicopter landing in the middle of a field. Three figures step out: a woman and two men. They first man asks if this is where the 'abominations' are. The other responds that this is where they are believed to be, and the woman gives this monologue:

'No human should have the powers these possess. As the task force sent from the our holy leader, we must eliminate these people as soon as possible.'
